Abstract
Mediji imaju važnu ulogu u svakodnevnom životu Ijudi. Zbog snažnog utjecaja masovnih medija u današnjem svijetu, gotovo je nemoguće izbjeći važne svjetske događaje i sadržaje. Način na koji se informacija prenosi, svakako utječe na percepciju i mišljenje koje će pojedinac oblikovati. Najpodložnija skupina su adolescenti, no mediji sve više pogađaju i djecu, što u vrlo ranoj dobi može biti veoma problematično, osobito kad je u pitanju nametanje lažnih ideala Ijepote. Istraživanja pokazuju da djeca već u dobi od sedam godina postaju nezadovoljna svojim izgledom, a da već u devetoj poduzimaju određene korake kako bi postigli nametnuti medijski ideal Ijepote. Mediji utječu na sve brže odrastanje djece, tjelesno preispitivanje i sve raniju seksualizaciju djece.
Abstract (english)
The media have huge influence on individuals and public opinion. Due to the powerful presence of mass media in today‘s world, it is almost impossible to avoid important global events and trending content. The way in which information is transmitted certainly influences the perceptions and opinions that individuals will form and hold as their own. The most vulnerable user groups in this communication process are adolescents and, increasingly, young children. Unmediated messages are reaching them at an earlier age and without context, which can be problematic. By reviewing existing literature, research studies, and scholarly materials, this paper considers how the media available to young adults and children treat the topic of beauty ideals and pathways suggested for the attainment of beauty. Consequently, we see changes to the maturing process, how children view their physical bodies and an earlier onset of sexualized behaviors.
