Abstract
Ovaj rad se bavi stresom koji može biti uzrokovan javnim nastupom. Javni nastupi su često neophodni i predstavljaju oblik komunikacije s drugim ljudima. Njima se prenose poruke, informacije, te služe kao sredstvo uvjeravanja publike. Ljudi se od najranije dobi susreću s javnim nastupima. Već se od školske djece nerijetko zahtjeva da izlažu pred svojim vršnjacima. Istovremeno, procjena prevalencije straha od javnog nastupa je vrlo visoka, te prema nekim autorima može biti i do 30% u općoj populaciji. To znači da velik broj ljudi, redovito doživljava značajan stres zbog socijalnih zahtjeva prema ovoj aktivnosti. Istraživanja pokazuju da je visoka razina stresa koji dolazi od dnevnih stresora povezana s višom razinom smrtnosti, te se pronalaženje odgovarajućih rješenja za upravljanje stresom smatra se glavnim društvenim izazovom. Strah od javnog nastupa je općenito podtip socijalne anksioznosti koja nastaje prvenstveno zbog straha od negativne evaluacije drugih ljudi. Iako prirođena i protektivna osobina, povišena anksioznost u društvenim situacijama može stvarati značajne probleme u funkcioniranju osobe koja ju osjeća. U ovom preglednom radu opisuju se fizičke, kognitivne i ponašajne manifestacije anksioznosti, mehanizmi koji stoje iza povišene anksioznosti u situacijama javnih nastupa, faktori koji održavaju ovaj strah, te najučinkovitije strategije nošenja s njime. Na kraju se, također daje prikaz savjeta za uspješniji javni nastup.
Abstract (english)
This paper discuses stress caused by public speaking. Public speaking is often necessary form of interpersonal communication. Its purpose can be to entertain, inform or persuade. Starting from early age, people find themselves in stituations in which they are requiered to perform in front of audience. Even children in schools often have a task to present something in front of their peers. At the same time, prevalence of public speaking anxiety is fairly high. According to some authors, up to 30% of general population can face this problem. This means that many people, on regular basis, experience significant levels of stress because of public speaking. Researches show that higher levels of moderate daily stresses can be associated with higher levels of mortality.Therefore, finding the efficient stress management solutions is considered as a major societal challenge. Fear of public speaking is, in general, considered as a subtype of social anxiety, which arises primarily from the fear of negative evaluation. Although a natural and originaly protective trait, heightened anxiety in social situations can result with significant problems in funcionality of affected person. This paper describes physical, cognitive, and behavioral manifestations of social anxiety, mechanisms behind it, maintenance factors, and the most effective coping strategies. At the end, it also gives tips for more successful public performances.
