Abstract
Sport je raširena i popularna društvena pojava te predstavlja sastavni dio kulture suvremenog društva. Sportaši i sportski događaji tema su brojnih razgovora te ih mnogi s nestrpljenjem očekuju. Sport ima nevjerojatnu sposobnost privući velik broj ljudi bez obzira na njihovo podrijetlo, vjeroispovijest ili ekonomski status. Kako predstavlja predmet interesa šire javnosti, izložen je neprestanom masovnom informiranju te zbog toga predstavlja zrcalo i odraz prirodnoga stanja društva. Mediji imaju važnu ulogu u oblikovanju javnog mišljenja, a u sportu najčešći oblik odnosa s javnošću u sportu su upravo odnosi s medijima. Upravo zbog navedenog u radu je prikazan utjecaj sportaša i sportskih organizacija na javnost, kao i funkcije odnosa s javnošću u sportu.
Abstract (english)
Sport is a widespread and popular social phenomenon and is integrated part of the culture of modern society. Athletes and sporting events are the topic of numerous conversations and many are looking forward to watch them. Sport has an amazing ability to attract large number of people regardless of their background, religion or economic status. As it is the subject of interest of the public, it is exposed to constant mass information and therefore represents a reflection of the natural state of society. The media play has an important role in shaping public opinion, and in sports, the most common form of public relations in sports is media relations. The paper presents the impact of athletes and sports organizations on the public, as well as the functions of public relations in sports.
