The purpose of this thesis, Erasmus+ Programmes as a Platform for Intercultural Encounters and Communication, is to present Erasmus+ programmes as a platform for intercultural encounters and communication for participants. Erasmus+ as an EU supported programme for education, training, youth and sport, with its budget of €14.7 billion, will provide mobility opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train, gain experience, and volunteer. To better understand how the Erasmus+ Programme functions as a platform for intercultural communication and encounters the author carried out a qualitative method research on a sample of seven respondents, encompassing students aged 18 and over who have participated in Erasmus+ mobilities at Edward Bernays University College. This thesis first examines the aspects of culture and communication presenting results on how and to what extent the Erasmus+ Programme contributes to learning about other cultures and develops intercultural communication. It then proceeds to examine the Erasmus+ Programme; intercultural relations; intercultural cooperation and cultural differences providing an answer to how intercultural relations, cooperation and differences represent an everyday reality in Erasmus+ projects. Finally, it examines the aspects of successful intercultural communication and intercultural conflict management, comparing what one should do to how, in fact, participants prepare their communication skills in advance to adapt to their hosts.
